New Crazy Bull Album Available for Streaming & Purchase

Crazy Bull's The Past Is Today is loaded with raunchy riffs, as the quartet’s retrofitted, 70’s heavy psych-blues rock motors toward a collision course with your eardrums. Channeling Leslie West, the band hovers between a hard rock/metal threshold, establishing a groove, and then branching off into extended, escalating, guitar-fueled fire. What maybe starts off as bar blues quickly accelerates into a mystical stratosphere. Crazy Bull will be bringing their raw brand of epic rock 'n' roll to Kung Fu Necktie on Saturday, July 21, supported by Mota and Alms.

New Track: "Be a Light" - Ali Awan

If a temporary summer trip is in order, “Be a Light,” the new single from Ali Awan, could provide the sound. Harmonized vocals fortify the loose, laidback, psych-folk ride. The grit of the guitar strums are smoothed over by the shimmer of keys, as the continuous churn of the rhythm marches onward in a direct, mind-tunneling expanse. He'll be sharing a billing at Johnny Brenda's on Thursday, August 9, with Lightninging and Mesmeric Haze.

A Deli Premiere: "More or Less" by AOTM Monkeys of a Bygone Era

Congratulations are in order for the punchy indie rock three-piece Monkeys of a Bygone Era — the Deli New England’s newest Artist of the Month. Led by Jason Zavala, the quirky group specializes in creating bouncy and infectious jangle rock with a twist and we can’t get enough. Their most recent endeavor is a 3D animated video for the track “More and Less” which, according to the band, “was conceived around the idea of ‘less is more’ being a challenging aspiration to maintain in a world where everyone wants more.” - Lilly Milman, photo by Tim Oxton

Check out an exclusive premiere of the song and accompanying video below.

Blues Lawyer releases instant classic debut LP 'Guess Work'

Every time I’m convinced there’s no more good punk left, an act like Oakland’s Blues Lawyer pops up to remind me I couldn’t be more wrong. Their debut LP Guess Work is a stunning exercise in brevity, filled with tongue-in-cheek lo-fi tracks that hark right back to the ‘70s. None of the members are interested in attempting to impress you (or waste any of your time) with overwrought guitar solos or steep buildups. They’re only interested in making instant classics, and they do so in two minutes or less. They said it best themselves on the punk puppy love anthem “Waste” (streaming below), where the chorus declares “I don’t want to waste time / I want to waste with you.” Well, we want to waste with you, too. - Lilly Milman

Goosebump - Release Party at Lula Lounge 07.26

Goosebump are a groovy new band from Toronto. They have just released a new self-titled record which features the single “She Don’t Say Goodbye”. This tune is catchy from the second it starts. The disco rhythm section will keep your toes tappin’ and head noddin’. The way the rest of the instruments bring the song together is quite fascinating in it’s execution. Goosebump is having a record release party at Lula Lounge on July 26th along with Chandra Persons and Cosmic Resonance DJ’s. – Kris Gies
